Every label, button, list, and line of body text in our app speaks this font, which means we read it more than anyone alive, and we rebuilt it the moment our own benchmark caught it slipping. It is Figtree’s warmth with five measured corrections, and today it sits in the top tier of the index, ahead of Verdana overall and 1.5 points ahead of Inter, the font it replaces, a gap right at the edge of our error bars, which is exactly how we describe it.
The five corrections, each one paid for with a measurement before it shipped: a 6% taller lowercase with ascenders that finally clear the caps, a small tail on the l, serifs on the I, breathing room around the five narrowest letters, and a whisper of tracking everywhere. The brand marks ride along: the t that ends in a checkmark’s flick, the grown interpunct, Albert Sans’s Et-style ampersand, and a native ✓ and ✗ drawn from the font’s own stems. The slashed zero we tried is published as a failed experiment; the reader kept calling it an eight.
