People Kept knows
How Kept stores the people you mention and the contacts you choose to import, what it keeps, and how forgetting works. The screens to manage people arrive in a later update.
The contacts store supports adding, editing, listing, and forgetting people, plus a one-time Apple contact import. Re-import matches email addresses, normalized phone numbers with at least seven digits, or hashed Apple contact identifiers. It fills empty fields while preserving fields you edit, including fields you clear. A person can have up to eight email addresses, eight phone numbers, an 80-character relationship, a 500-character note, and a birthday stored as a calendar date.
Contact changes require a connection. Native clients keep the list in account-scoped memory and do not queue edits or keep an address book on disk. iPhone import uses the system picker; the data foundation does not request address-book access. The picker and management screens are delivered separately from this foundation.
Forgetting hard-deletes the person and linked learned recipient addresses. Account deletion removes the person's contact store. Data belongs only to the signed-in account. An invalid batch or a merge exceeding address limits leaves the batch unchanged. An ambiguous match is skipped and counted, while other imported contacts are processed. Historical learned addresses for the same imported person can consolidate into one person.
Search, Do context, and MCP access are separate follow-ups. The legacy contacts endpoint continues to return only its original learned-contact provenance values.
Historical learned addresses use the same stored-address validation as the contacts store. Unsupported addresses are skipped while preserving the rest of the contact list. A malformed historical row cannot prevent the list from loading. Backfill preserves historical update times.
A person can have up to twenty name variants, each up to 120 characters. Adding or editing a person absorbs matching learned-only records. Removing an email unlinks its learned recipient record. Forgetting from the legacy learned-contact screen also removes the learned person after its last linked address is forgotten; manually added or imported people remain.
