Briefings and reminders
A morning briefing, a midday refocus, a nightly reflection, and task reminders. Each is a switch you own, and none of them prove delivery.
Kept sends few notifications, and every one of them is yours to turn off. There are four kinds.
| Kind | When | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| Morning briefing | An hour after Kept prepares your plan, at the time you choose | The day's shape: first event, your Top 3, a habit to start with |
| Midday refocus | Around half past twelve | What is still open and what the afternoon has room for |
| Nightly reflection | Evening | A one-line prompt to close the day and mark what you kept |
| Task reminders | The time you set on a task | The task's title |
The three briefings run on Cloud AI and pause when it is off. Only the morning briefing arrives as a notification, Good morning. First: …; the midday refocus quietly re-sorts your afternoon and the nightly reflection works overnight, and both show their results in the app. Task reminders are local notifications that need no cloud at all.
Turn them on or off
Open Settings → Notifications on either device. The screen shows whether the system currently allows Kept to notify you, then the switches for each briefing, your briefing time, and quiet hours. Choices sync across your devices and belong to your account.
If you turn Kept off in iOS Settings or System Settings, this screen says so and offers the system page. Kept then turns its own push off for this account on this device.
Task reminders
Set a reminder from a task's page. Each of your signed-in devices schedules its own alert from the synced time, so a reminder set on the Mac fires on your iPhone too. Completing or deleting the task cancels the alert immediately, even offline; reopening restores it. Signing out clears that account's alerts from the device.
Quiet hours
Set quiet hours in Notifications and Kept holds briefings until they end. A briefing that could not be sent still waits for you in the app.
Nightly reflection and learning
Turning off nightly reflection also stops the overnight cloud pass that reads your recent activity to prepare the next morning. Deterministic housekeeping still runs. Daily briefing and midday refocus remain separate choices.
