Widgets and controls

Twelve widgets, seven controls, and a Live Activity that keep Kept within reach without opening it.

Most of what Kept does can be read or done from the Home Screen, the Lock Screen, or Control Center. The app becomes the place you go for the longer look.

Widgets never touch the network. They read a small snapshot the app leaves for them, and when you complete something on a widget the change is queued and lands the next time the app wakes. No widget or control carries a key of any kind.

Add a widget

Touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and find Kept. Long-press a placed widget and choose Edit Widget for its options.

WidgetSizesWhat it shows
NextSmall, Lock ScreenOne line: what matters next and when. Quiet when you are clear.
TodaySmall to extra large, Lock ScreenThe date, what is next, your three, quick wins, and your habits. Large completes tasks in place.
HabitsSmall to large, Lock ScreenToday's habits, checkable in place. The ring moves without opening the app.
AgendaMedium, large, Lock ScreenToday's events and due tasks in time order, with an area filter.
CalendarMedium, largeYour day as a timeline.
FocusSmall, medium, Lock ScreenYour focus level, up to three deep-work picks, and Start. Pause and stop a running session.
BodySmall, medium, Lock ScreenCalories and macros at a glance, with the hero metric you choose and a Snap a meal button.
TrendsMedium, largeOne metric's line, with an optional goal line.
IdentitySmall, Lock ScreenYour identity statement and the days you kept.
TasksMedium, largeOpen tasks or your Top 3, complete one in a tap, with the row detail you choose.
CaptureSmall, Lock ScreenFour captures in one tap: note, task, event, meal.
Quick captureMediumFour labeled launches you arrange yourself.

Completing on a widget shows a short kept · undo chip for a few seconds, so a stray tap can be reversed. A widget that says Open Kept to check or as of yesterday wants you to open the app once so it can refresh.

Controls

Add Kept controls to Control Center or the Lock Screen from the controls gallery. There are seven: Capture, Quick note, Add task, Log meal, Snap a meal, Complete next habit, and Start focus. Start focus also stops a running session, and it works from the locked screen; Complete next habit asks you to unlock first.

The Action Button

On an iPhone with an Action Button, open Settings › Action Button, choose Controls, and pick Capture. One press, the Capture sheet. Or choose Shortcut and pick Capture in Kept. Without an Action Button, give Capture in Kept to Back Tap in the Shortcuts app.

Live Activity

Start a focus session and it appears on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island: Focusing or Paused, the countdown, and Pause and Stop that work without opening the app.

Home Screen quick actions

Touch and hold the Kept icon for Capture, Log a meal, and Start focus, plus a fourth that changes with your day: Resume focus when a session is paused, Complete next with the next habit's name, or Next with your next event.

Focus filters

In iOS Settings → Focus, add Set Kept Focus to a Focus such as Work and choose the life areas that belong to it. While that Focus is on, Today's calendar, the agenda, open tasks, and your widgets scope to those areas, and you can ask it to surface deep-work picks first. The free-window math still uses every event, so Free until 3 stays true.

Spotlight and Visual Intelligence

Tasks, notes, events, and goals are indexed for Spotlight; search from the Home Screen and open them directly. With Visual Intelligence, point the camera at a plate and Kept offers Log this meal in Kept; point it at anything else and it offers Capture in Kept. Labels only; the picture never leaves the device from that path.

Next: Siri, Shortcuts, and automations.
